Cermet Cutting Tools

Cermet inserts have longer tool life and can run at higher cutting speeds than standard coated carbide inserts. Suitable cutting applications range from semi rough to finish turning, milling, grooving and threading. Considerable cost savings can be achieved when using this technology.

Cermet consists of ceramic re-enforced with titanium nitride and tantalum nitride.

Cermet is harder and more wear resistant than tungsten carbide cutting tools but tougher than ceramic. It's low coefficient of friction combined with its hardness, resists adhesion cratering and wear. Tool life of cermet can be further enhanced with conventional coatings. All manufacturers grades are available.
